About I-CAN ...

Have you ever thought about how frustrating it might be to do simple everyday tasks if you had been born "different"? Navigating monkey bars, carrying groceries, tying your shoes, or even going up and down stairs could prove to be difficult if you were an amputee. Imagine feeling that you do not fit in because you are not the same as others.

The International Child Amputee Network (ICAN) was established to support childhood amputees and their families. ICAN was founded by Bill Baughn and his wife, Joyce, who became a bilateral below-elbow amputee at age six. Bill has since passed, but his memory lives on through ICAN. Joyce continues to selflessly deal with many of the day-to-day operations of the organization.

A Parents' Story ...
John & Debbie, Parkville, Maryland

Our daughter Kyleigh was born in 2002 without her left forearm and hand. Our midwife had a daughter similar to Kyleigh and she introduced us to International Child Amputee Network (I-CAN). We have attended as many annual conferences as we can and we are co-hosting in Baltimore in 2013. The organization provides continued support for the children and their families. The purpose of the annual I-CAN Golf Tournament is to assist families (such as ours) with the funding for the annual conference. It will also provide the organization a new way to bring in annual funding.
